I believe the most important part of the therapeutic relationship is establishing trust between the person and the therapist. This is done in several ways; one of the most important ways is by creating a space where the person feels comfortable sharing with the therapist. I prioritize creating a space where people feel safe, respected, and heard, which allows the needs of the person to be addressed. I recognize that it’s a privilege to be able to share space with people within the therapeutic setting, and it’s my goal to create the most supportive and authentic environment for this relationship to flourish.

I believe that people have the tools for their healing, but may not always be aware of their own capacity to change. During these times, a therapist, as an outside observer, can help support a person to recognize their own strengths/resources. Additionally, as a therapist, I think it’s important to be able to provide education and positive coping skills to help the person navigate their world in ways that feel good to them. During this process, I keep a holistic perspective of the person and aim to highlight that the ways people feel/act are often very rational responses to what can be a very irrational world. I have many years of experience working with adults across their lifespan from diverse backgrounds.
